I’m In High School This Morning
Nostalgia Video-a-Thon:
I’ve Been Waiting – Matthew Sweet:
I still have an overwhelming love for Matthew Sweet, that bubblegum influence hit me hard and has stuck with me ever since. And it ACTUALLY is a cool video.
More videos after the jump – seeing as I have the tendency to go a little overboard and who really wants a nostalgia video showdown to overtake an entire page?
Live Forever – Oasis:
I burned myself out with early Oasis, got a bit stubborn when What’s The Story (Morning Glory) came out, but since then, I would tell you that from “Don’t Look Back in Anger” on – It’s still one of my favorite records. Even though “Champagne Supernova” kind of makes me want to puke. I just do not like that song.
Radiohead – How Do You (Live ’93)
Pablo Honey and The Bends are my favorites. I won’t lie, I prefer earlier, Rock and Roll Radiohead. Loved OK Computer, but that was the beginning of the end of my Radiohead obsession. Even if they are great and critically acclaimed now, it’s not always my cup of tea. But shit, they’ve come a long way.
Fuck it, I’m putting The Bends on too…
Everclear – Santa Monica: (Love McCann Leon, this is YOUR fault)
You can’t force someone to like a band, but you sure as hell can force them to listen. This happened to me, and Everclear has my later-years High School experience written all over it. And I can’t lie, it’s a good song. It holds up.
Weezer – Buddy Holly:
Oh Weezer. From moment one, I loved you. With every shred of my being. I forgive you for putting out a few mediocre albums in recent years, but I love you unconditionally.
There are a couple others that should be on here, videos like “Mr. Jones” by Counting Crows or even “Hey Jealousy” by the Gin Blossoms, but very honestly – I can barely even listen to them anymore… Ok, that was a nice video purge for me, here’s to hoping you enjoyed it a bit too.
In closing, the Semisonic cannot be avoided. Even though this came out in 98, I was still running around my old hometown, itching to get out… That, and this song is perfect right now, and always…
