Sebastien Grainger and the Mountains

Death from Above 1979’s Sebastien Grainger just released a self-titled solo debut on Saddle Creek, and has pretty much just started touring it last week. It’s a pretty kick ass, straightforward rock record and has been cranked in the tigerbeatpoet lair over and over since it first blasted out the speakers. The video above is almost a year old, but frankly, it’s one of my favorite songs off the record and the sound is quite decent so that’s that. I keep kicking myself that I missed his show here on Monday, but you just can’t see ‘em all.

Everybody and their mother…

Is talking about the new Guns N Roses record. Well, maybe not my mother. And I am kind of being a jerk-off about the whole thing and I haven’t listened to it yet… So here are my two favorite takes on it so far…

Current Local Obsession: Solid Gold

Oh lord, where I have I been?? I finally had the opportunity to listen to Solid Gold’s record Bodies Of Water yesterday and it BLEW MY MIND. Super tuned-up production, handsomely gorgeous vocals – the whole nine yards.

Get your ass to their MySpace to give them a listen immediately, or hit your nearest record store and buy the damn thing!

Cardinology is out. And Ryan is interning.

Gawker had a post yesterday about how Ryan Adams is interning over at BlackBook… the photo they ran with it is nothing less than dreamy. To be honest, I’m still a little unsure of how I feel about Cardinology, to the point that I don’t really want to talk about it. I just need a little more time.

oh, how dreamy.

oh, how dreamy. (click on photo for story)

I still love you, Ryan – I just worry that you’ve lost something you might never get back. Not that I feel like your newer music lacks a soul, but I have relegated myself to believing that there will never be another Gold or Heartbreaker in your output. And that’s a sad thought.
