tigerbeatpoet is the online moniker of Jen Paulson. She hasn’t flipped through the pages of Tiger Beat in years, and is not much of a poet. However, she knows quite a bit about obsessing over music and musicians, squealing over cute and or badass things and tigerbeatpoet.com is an outlet for the culmination of all this - from her hometown of Minneapolis, to the whole wide world.
Well, if I say reunite, and I notify you that they won’t be playing with Jerry Dammers, does that really mean it’s a full reunion?
Sadly, they more than likely won’t be bringing it to the states. (At least I don’t think so.) There are eight UK dates on deck so far in celebration of 2-Tone’s 30th Anniversary in 2009.
This just in per my reader, the season 2 premiere of Flight of the Conchords is gonna air exclusively on Funny or Die.com on December 17th (and on their home network HBO on January 9th). To that I say… Aw shit yeah!!
Balloting is from Today to the 7th… Yep, December 7th. Sorry, I just can’t wrap my brain around the fact that it is already the last month of 2008. Actually, I can – which is why I’m awake and panicked at five in the morning. So – have at it, people.
Their new disc Sentimental City is at the Electric Fetus, Cheapo and Treehouse right now – but their CD Release is December 5th at the 400 Bar… I am so in love with this cover art right now. Can’t wait to give the new record a complete listen. I’m pretty sure I had a Film History class with the lead singer years ago…
Regardless, they are also playing tonight (Saturday, November 28th) in the headlining spot at the Uptown Bar if you make it out.
Bummer news central: The Noah and The Whale show scheduled for the Entry on December 13 has been cancelled. In fact, they’ve cancelled their North American tour. How sad, right? So, pull yourself together – finish crying and put those kleenexes away after the video. They’ll be back.
It’s really no secret that I love Motley Crue. Sure, they have plenty of misses, but the combination of that Motley folklore, their catalog of dirty L.A./Sunset Strip hits, and my obsessive love of The Dirt made this much-needed rock news for me.
So on this delightfully sunshine-y November morning, I thought I would insert some of my favorite Motley Crue videos after the jump:
Ok, so courtesy of MnSpeak a couple weeks back – I stumbled across something so amazing that my head might explode. It’s called Dance Dance Party Party and it’ll be going down every Thursday at the Old Arizona theater starting on November 13th. I swear on all things holy that I hope to attend these regularly – as it as been something I have wanted to do as an event for ages – except I call it Geek Aerobics – something I only do in the privacy of my own home.
Looks like this is a trend that is taking over the nation, considering it’s first flagship in New York to newer chapters fourteen other cities, our Twin Cities now included. The rules – no boys, no booze, and no judgment. To an extent, I think most people are incapable of the latter, but who cares. By the time you’ve Shook Your Love with Debbie Gibson, who CAN judge, right??
Ladies: This is a guaranteed whirlwind of awesomeness.
Gawker had a post yesterday about how Ryan Adams is interning over at BlackBook… the photo they ran with it is nothing less than dreamy. To be honest, I’m still a little unsure of how I feel about Cardinology, to the point that I don’t really want to talk about it. I just need a little more time.
oh, how dreamy. (click on photo for story)
I still love you, Ryan – I just worry that you’ve lost something you might never get back. Not that I feel like your newer music lacks a soul, but I have relegated myself to believing that there will never be another Gold or Heartbreaker in your output. And that’s a sad thought.
